Uniko (Italy)

The Uniko concept was born in 2010 during a trip to the island of Bali, which has always been considered a haven for creative people and artists from all over the world. Immersed in the lush Ubud forest, there is still a small workshop here, where an old master sculpts and weaves natural fibers of water hyacinth, vines and rattan on Indonesian timber structures with amazing handicraft skills. We spent a lot of time watching these hands shape unique pieces of furniture that are the guardians of a thousand-year-old and precious tradition. However, the use of natural materials limited their direct outdoor use, and it was a disaster to not be able to use these elements indoors where they could be ideally placed. Hence the idea arose to recreate the same textures using innovative materials that could shape the weather-resistant design pieces of furniture. We made mistakes, overcame obstacles, and improved methods and materials year after year. In our humble way, we can say that we did it and are still very enthusiastic about new designs and shapes that represent our “Italian” idea of ​​outdoor lighting. It is this idea that propels us forward and impresses with everything we think and do ... the Uniko feeling.
